TEENS PROGRAMS OUTCOME
Rock on challenge programs are also known as adventure therapy, and they are generally designed to help teens as well as preteens who are perceived as at risk. Here are a few of the effects that are often expected from this challenge courses:
Establish a sense of community
Numerous programs are built around the concept of developing a sense of community between participants. A considerable number of at-risk teens are going through a period in their personal lives where they experience a deep sense of isolation; unfortunately this feeling can be destructive for them. Adventure therapy programs aim towards providing young people a sense of security as part of belonging to a constructive and accepting group. Team-building activities are usually exercises used in achieving this goal.
Develop self-confidence
Among the primary aims of challenges is to improve the self-image of its attendees. It relies on the concept that when young people have self-respect, they are unlikely to engage in something damaging and unpleasant. Routines incorporated into the courses which focus on building self-confidence include the rope challenge. These challenges utilize different props consisting of ropes, such as links, walkways and ladders that are hung up on trees. Additionally, there are safety nets put together, yet the primary goal for players would be to face their fears by navigating through the entire challenge. A similar and more common activity is rock climbing.
Enhance the youth's personal sense of responsibility
Another objective that challenge programs work toward is an increased sense of responsibility. During the course of the whole program, members are tasked with various responsibilities and positions that can influence the group as a whole. The progress of participants is rewarded and acknowledged. Rewards could be intangible prizes, just like more freedom, or tangible, such as certificates and other items.
Provide participants an avenue to talk about problems and improvement with psychologist and therapist
Many of our programs include talk therapy. Talk therapy is an effective means for assessing the improvement of the adventure therapy, how effective it is and how it influenced the participants. Therapists taking part in talk therapy encourage young people to understand how the activities are affecting them. Furthermore, it provides individuals a constructive setting where they can talk about any troubles and concerns that they have. Rock on challenge programs varies in length, but all of them incorporate the essential components of personal responsibility and community involvement.
